Khanar bhachan basically means agricultural rhyme. The word Khana is said to have been in vogue mainly between the 8th and 12th centuries. It is believed that Khana was originally from Deulia village in Barasat Sadar Sub-division of North Twenty-Four Parganas district of present-day West Bengal. "Agricultural Customs and Superstitions, Agricultural Practices and Astronomy, Meteorological Knowledge, Advice on the Care of Crops" are the categories of Khanas writings. which is still quite common.
